The Journey of Kate and Brooke: Exploring the Art of Filmmaking

Lights, camera, action!

Welcome to the behind-the-scenes story of two incredible filmmakers whose passion for storytelling led them on an exhilarating journey into the world of movies. Meet Kate and Brooke, the dynamic duo behind Granon Film Productions. Together, the two partners have crafted wild stories and brought people from across the world together to work on movies. But how did they each get their start?

"Why don't you guys start a company together?"

April 29, 2021: The official (legal) inception of Granon Film Productions LLC. Kate and Brooke shook hands only one week prior after a conversation with Kate’s husband that led them to paying the government to legally own their company. With help from many other local business owners, Granon was born.

Kate’s journey seamlessly intertwines with her innate storytelling skills. From creating audiobooks with dramatic music overlays to hosting backyard plays and crafting medieval-themed stories and drawings, her upbringing laid the foundation for her love of storytelling in various forms.

The pivotal moment arose when Kate decided to film one of her childhood plays, birthing her maiden movie, 'The Foolish Talkers.' She reflects on this, saying,

“It was my first plunge into filmmaking. I never imagined that recording a childhood play would spark my passion for movies."

Subsequently, inspired by Star Wars, she embarked on a cinematic adventure, crafting 'The Little Lord Vader' series and 'Whatever It Takes,' projects that defined her high school years. Kate reminisces about this phase, noting,

“Those projects were monumental. They taught me the value of perseverance and hard work in creating films."

After the completion of these ambitious projects, a phase of uncertainty crept in, and Kate found herself at a crossroads, questioning her filmmaking journey's future.

For Brooke, the love for film roots back to her childhood days spent fishing with her grandpa, capturing moments with an old VHS recorder instead of reeling in fish. Despite setbacks in pursuing her dream during high school, meeting Kate revitalized her passion for filmmaking, culminating in the birth of their joint business.

The turning point arrived in 2021 when Kate's creative juices flowed, leading to the inception of 'Tatooine Trouble,' a project that roped in Brooke and marked their collaboration's official start. The premiere served as a catalyst for Brooke's active involvement, eventually solidifying their decision to formalize Granon Productions as a business entity.

“Joining Kate for 'Tatooine Trouble' was a leap of faith. It was exhilarating to be part of something that evolved into our business." - Brooke

Their cinematic aspirations go beyond creating blockbusters or seeking personal fame. They aim to leverage film's power as a tool for positive cultural influence, steering clear of glorifying violence or negativity prevalent in the entertainment industry.

"We want our films to be a force for good, inspiring audiences and contributing positively to culture."

Reflecting on their choice of film as a medium, Kate and Brooke emphasize its unique ability to amalgamate various art forms and skills, fostering an environment where diverse talents thrive.

“Movies are a beautiful fusion of storytelling, visuals, sound, and numerous artistic elements. It's a canvas that allows creators from diverse backgrounds to collaborate and bring stories to life."

Their podcast marks the beginning of sharing their experiences, insights, and aspirations with the world, offering a glimpse into the creative minds driving Granon Film Productions forward. As they gear up for future episodes and guests, their journey continues, driven by a shared vision of making meaningful, impactful films that resonate with audiences globally.
